Background
- When we were observing and investigating around the school, we noticed that a lot of lights and other electronics were turned on despite the environment already the classroom being bright enough from natural sunlight.
- This can cause too much electricity and energy use which is mostly generated by burning fossil fuels, coal, oil and natural gas. The burning of the source used to generate electricity could increase the amount of harmful greenhouse gases that worsen the global warming happening right now.
- Other than that, we also saw trashes were always piled up, or full, causing the trash to be scattered around the place. There also weren’t separated or organized properly into types.
- Another fact is that by not organizing the waste we produce everyday well could make the environment around uncomfortable to study in, as it could produce a bad smell which disturbs our focus. Especially when organic waste like food and paper is not separated and ends up packed tightly in landfills, it breaks down without oxygen which produces methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas that warms the planet over 80 times faster than carbon dioxide.
